We’re excited to announce the installation of Environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling aboard the vessel Rebecca.
eDNA allows us to analyze marine life by detecting genetic material in water samples, providing insights into population counts, migration patterns, and endangered species. The samples are analyzed by the University of Auckland, Citizens of the Sea, and Cawthron Institute, offering groundbreaking discoveries, including unknown species. This technology helps us understand climate-driven shifts in marine ecosystems and opens new doors in our quest to preserve the oceans—perhaps even unlocking clues to the origins of life on Earth.
